Volleyball Volunteers with Special Olympics

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC women's volleyball team had their most important practice of the season on Monday night, as they practiced with a group of volleyball players from the Bethlehem Special Olympics.

"It was a great night," stated NCC Head Coach Missy Lynn, "our girls really enjoyed themselves and the joy of the Special Olympians was infectious ... it was a great group to work with."

Northampton Athletics has committed itself to community service and working with special interest groups as part of the "Spartans in the Community" campaign.

"I am really proud of our student-athletes and coaches," remarked Director of Athletics Troy Tucker, "these individuals are giving up their time to go be part of something bigger ... they are all getting a great understanding of the impact an individual, or group, can have when they choose to give back."

The NCC women's volleyball team also volunteered during the Lehigh Valley Health Network marathon, helping to raise thousands of dollars for VIA of the Lehigh Valley, which supports children and adults with disabilities.
