BYRN MAWR, Pa - NJCAA Division I Harcum College, ranked 18th in the nation, proved to be too much for the NCC men's basketball team on Tuesday, handing the Spartans a 120-60 defeat in their season opener.
"We knew coming in we would have our hands full," explained NCC Head Coach Kevin Foley, "give Harcum credit, they are well-coached and have a ton of talent, they are a legitimate NJCAA Division I contender."
Preseason All-American Antonio Bumpus led the Bears with 17 points, while freshman
Josh Vargas led Northampton with 19 points and 5 rebounds.
The Spartans, now 0-1 on the season, will look to rebound this weekend when they host the Elite Limousine & Coach Tip-Off Tournament. NCC will face Region III power Onondaga Community College on Saturday night at 7pm.
