MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The NCC women's softball team, despite numerous delays, opened the 2010 season on Sunday with a 13-1 victory over Genesee Community College (NY) at the Snowbird Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Freshman Gina Falco went 3 for 5 with 4 RBI and Megan Dougherty added 3 RBI with a 2 for 2 effort at the plate as NCC broke open a 0-0 tie with 4 runs in the 6th inning.

Erin LaBar earned the victory on the mound, alllowing only one run.

The Spartans, 1-0 on the season, will play Mercer County College and Gordon College on Monday.
