MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The NCC baseball team continued their stretch of NJCAA Division II powerhouses, falling to 8-time World Series participant Iowa Central Community College, 18-5.
Tony Gotshall was 1 for 3 with a homerun and 2 RBI,
Joey Bamford was 2 for 3 and
AJ Berstler was 2 for 2 with a double to lead the Northampton offense.
The Spartans actually led 5-4 in the 4th inning, before nationally-ranked Iowa Central erupted for 14 runs over the final 4 innings.
"We are seeing some quality teams," remarked Head Coach
Adrian Yaguez, "while we obviously want to win, these games will only make us better when we get into regional play."
Chris Chamberlain (0-1) took the loss for the Spartans.
NCC, now 1-3 overall, will face Region XIX foe Lackawanna College on Wednesday at 12:00pm.
