BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton Community College Softball Coach Sam Carrodo has released the Spartans complete 2010 schedule.
The Spartans, who finished the 2009 season as Region XIX runners-up, will open their second season of NJCAA competition at the Snowbird Softball Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, March 14th through March 18th.
First up for the Spartans on March 14th will be Genesee Community College from Batavia, NY. The Cougars are a member of Region III and are a perennial regional tournament participant. NCC will then face a familiar foe in Mercer County College on March 15th at 9:00am, followed by Gordon College at 10:30am.
The southern trip will also include games with Massasoit Community College, Norwich University, Sussex County Community College, Alfred State College, Cumberland County College and Region XIX rival Brookdale Community College.
Brookdale heads to South Carolina ranked 5th in the country in the preseason NJCAA poll. The Jersey Blues finished the 2009 season with a record of 36-14, after falling to Suffolk-Selden in the national tournament.
"We are really looking forward to getting south and seeing grass," joked Carrodo, "the girls have really been working hard in the gym, but we all just want to get outside and actually play."
Upon their return to Pennsylvania, the Spartans will host Lackawanna College on March 24th at 3:00pm, as they open the renovated Spartan Park Softball Complex.
