BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC Baseball team improved to 9-9 on the season with a convincing sweep of CCAC-South on Thursday afternoon.
In game one Northampton jumped out early with three runs in the first inning and five in the third and then cruised to the 10-3 victory as Jason Pennypacker (2-0) threw a complete game five-hitter, striking out four and allowing two earned runs.
Christian Joest was 3 for 4 with two homeruns and 5 RBI and Nick Zegarski was 2 for 3 with a homerun and 2 RBI to pace the Spartan offense.
In game two the Spartans stayed hot at the plate, scoring a run in the bottom of the second and four in the third to take a commanding 5-1 lead en route to a 9-1 victory.
Mike Ciavarella (1-2) earned his first collegiate victory, throwing a complete game six-hitter and striking out three.
Ryan Wyckoff drilled his first homerun of the season and Tony Gotshall added a 2 for 3 effort with a run scored.
Eric Bohem and Billy Turner each added triples as the Spartans pounded out 9 hits.
NCC will host Region XIX foe Montgomery County Community College in doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
