NEWTOWN, Pa. - Playing without sophomore All-State selection Ashley Bennett, the Spartans faced a tough, uphill climb against a strong Bucks County Community College squad on Saturday afternoon.
Adrienne Nenow stepped into the #1 singles position on the women's side and defeated Gulnoza Razikova, 6-3, 6-0. However, without Bennett the Spartans were forced to forfeit a point in women's singles and women's doubles, thus putting extra pressure on the men's side to overcome the deficit.
NCC's #1 and #2 singles players, Brandon Wright and Barry Fedon, both lost in singles action, but were victorious in doubles.
Eric Knauss defeated Christian Haas, 6-1, 6-2, thus leaving the match to be decided at the #3 singles match, with NCC's Bryan Silk facing off against Evan Morris. Silk took game one 6-4, Morris came back in game two 6-4, and eventually took game three, 7-5, giving Bucks the match by a 4-3 count.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday April 22nd when the host conference leading Harrisburg Area Community College at 3pm.
