BETHLEHEM, Pa. - In a move geared toward further program expansion, Northampton Director of Athletics Troy Tucker announced Friday May 14th that NCC's men's and women's bowling teams will be part of the NJCAA, beginning in the 2010-11 school year.
"Given the success that we have had in bowling over the years, it just makes sense for us to elevate our bowling program to the NJCAA," stated Tucker, "We will continue to compete against members of the EPCC, but we will now have the ability to send qualified individuals to the NJCAA national championships each year."
The addition of men's and women's bowling brings Northampton's total number of NJCAA-certified sports to eight, including: men's soccer, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and softball. In addition, NCC will be adding women's soccer in the Fall of 2011.
Northampton also sponsors wrestling which competes in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA), Tennis and Golf, which compete in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC).
