Northampton Selected to Host Softball Regional Championship

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - The Region XIX Championship Events Committee has announced that Northampton Community College has been selected to host the Region XIX / Division III softball championships in 2011 and 2012.

"This is a great opportunity for us," stated Head Coach Sam Carrodo, "not only does it provide us the chance to play at home, it will allow softball fans in the greater Lehigh Valley to watch some of the top NJCAA softball teams in the country competing for the opportunity to advance to the World Series."

The Regional championship is a double-elimination tournament consisting of the four teams that advance from opening round play.

"The committee felt that Northampton would be a great host," remarked Region XIX Championship Events Committee Chair, Ilene Cohen, "they have run a first-class operation in terms of game management and the players, coaches and fans will enjoy participating at their facility."

The 2011 championship will be held on May 7th and 8th.

The Spartan softball team has advanced to the Region XIX Final Four each year since joining the NJCAA, including a runner-up finish in 2009.
