NCC Crashes Final Four Party

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Region XIX Championships for baseball and softball have a very similar feel; Gloucester, Brookdale, Camden, Northampton ... Northampton??  Yes, Northampton, the new kids on the block have crashed the party and will join the aforementioned Region XIX standouts this weekend as they all vie for the elusive bid to the NJCAA World Series.

"It is a great accomplishment for our teams to be mentioned with such long-time powerhouses as Gloucester, Brookdale and Camden," echoed Director of Athletics Troy Tucker, "it really speaks to the commitment of  the college to be successful when we made the decision to join the NJCAA two years ago and it speaks to the dedication of our coaching staff and our student-athletes."

Softball, who defeated Sussex County Community College in the opening round of the playoffs, advanced to the Regional championships for the second consecutive year.  The Spartans are currently 27-8 and ranked 10th in the country in the latest NJCAA poll.

Baseball, making their first playoff appearance, upset 4th seeded Bergen County College in the first round to advance to their first Regional championship.  The Spartans are currently 20-19 overall.

Both Regional championships will be contested this weekend, with softball being held at Ocean County College and baseball at Gloucester County College.
