Softball Eliminated from Regionals in Extra Innings

TOMS RIVER, NJ - Facing elimination and the tournament's number one seed, Northampton looked poised to advance to the semifinals on Sunday, leading Gloucester County College 3-2 with one out in the bottom of the 7th.

The Roadrunners had other ideas, hitting a homerun to tie the game at 3-3 and eventually scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 8th.

Casey Ord was 3 for 5 and Tiffany Kobordo was 2 for 3 to pace the Spartan offense.  Alexis Jordan added a RBI and a run scored.

Krysten Rockovits suffered the loss, striking out six and walking two, while allowing six hits.

The loss eliminated the Spartans from the Regional Tournament and ends their season at 27-10.

"We just didn't generate enough offense today," lamented Head Coach Sam Carrodo, "the kids played hard, I can't fault their effort, we just didn't string together enough hits to put any pressure on Brookdale or Gloucester today."
