BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC Golf team will open play this Fall as they look to build off their 4th place finish at the conference championships and 6th place finish in the PCAA State tournament last year.
"I think we can compete again," remarked Head Coach
Steve Malitzki, "we always seemed to be in the mix, but we were just never able to have everyone shoot a low round at the same time. Individually, they all had some tremendous rounds of golf, but just never at the same time."
The Spartans lost All-Conference performer Michael Hicks to graduation, but Malitzki is confident that the team will be fine, "Mike was a pleasure to be around, great student, great golfer .... he really embodied what we are trying to do."
While Malitzki plans on having two returners, he urges anyone interested in trying out to call him at 484-239-1664 or to email him at
smalitzki@northampton.edu, "I am always looking for new players, I will conduct a tryout in mid-August and select a team based on what I see during those qualifying rounds."
The Spartans will play six matches during the Fall before competing in the conference championships and then the PCAA state championships at Penn National Golf Course.
