Men's Soccer Day 3

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - This is part two of a series of Spartan All-Access reports covering the men's soccer program as they prepare for their initial season of NJCAA competition.

Thursday was "moving-day" as the NCC coaching staff likes to call it as a few individuals saw their dream of being a Spartan come to an end.  "I don't care how many years you have been doing this," remarked Head Coach Ned Yelovich, "it never gets any easier to cut someone ... you can see how much they love the game and you know how much it hurts them to not be part of the team."

Goaltending looks to be an area of strength for the Spartans as all conference performer Pat Szarznyski returns along with newcomer Melvin Almonte.  "I feel real good about our keeper situation," noted Yelovich, "both of these guys bring different strengths to the table, but we should be solid between the pipes."

If playing your first season in the NJCAA wasn't enough motivation, Coach Yelovich informed the team as they ran through drills that four of the preseason top 15 teams in the country were from Region XIX, including preseason #1, Union County College ... at that point, you could see the pace of practice turn up a notch.

Practice continues today at 3:45pm.
