BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton Head Baseball Coach
Adrian Yaguez has released the Spartan's 2012 schedule, which includes 10 games during their spring trip to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and a home showdown with defending regional champion Gloucester County College.
"Once again we will be tested early in South Carolina, playing predominately Division II programs, but that is what we need if we want to compete in Region XIX once we return home."
The Spartans will open the season at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach on March 11th, vs. Cuyahoga CC before returning home to host Broome Community College and Onondaga Community College on March 18th and 24th, respectively.
NCC opens up league play on March 25th when they host Union County College in a doubleheader at 12pm.
Due to the expansion of Region XIX with the addition of Lehigh Carbon Community College, Delaware County Commuity College and Bucks County Community College, all teams in the Region will play 26 region contests.
"It is a marathon," quipped Yaguez, "no question to play 26 league games within the short window of time we have is a challenge, but that is where pitching depth really comes into play."
The Spartans, who lost in the Regional Championship last season will face defending champion Gloucester County College on April 22nd when the Roadrunners visit Spartan Field for a doubleheader at 12pm.
NCC will finish the regular season with a trip to perennial region power Brookdale on April 29th, before beginning the Region XIX playoffs on May 5th.
