BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Community College of Philadelphia used 49% shooting and a 48-35 advantage on the boards to down Northampton, 95-66, on Tuesday night in a match-up of nationally-ranked teams.
Jaylen Nixon scored 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Colonials, who improved to 11-1 overall, 11-0 in Region XIX and 9-0 in conference play.
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) was the only Spartan in double-figures, finishing with 17 points.
"We got outplayed," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "there is no other way to put it ... I thought there were a few bright spots in the first half, but in the second half, Philly had their way with us. We need to learn from this and come back strong on Thursday vs. Luzerne."
Tyrese Stewart (Allentown, Pa. /William Allen ) added 8 points and 3 rebounds and
Bernard Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) had 8 to pace Northampton.
The loss drops the Spartans to 10-2 overall, 7-1 in Region XIX and 6-1 in conference.
Northampton hosts Luzerne County on Thursday at 7pm in their final game of the semester.
