The NCC record holder for points scored in a season, Mike Nelson was a dominating figure during his one season of competition at Northampton.

Nelson, who scored 725 points during the 1979-80 season, led the Spartans to a 29-2 record and was named to the EPCC All-Conference and All-Tournament Teams.

Nelson left NCC after his freshman season to play at NCAA Division I Wagner University where he guided the team to a NIT bid during his junior season and averaged over 16 points per game during his senior year.

Nelson fondly recalls his days at Northampton, saying that, "the team at NCC was special due to their ability to play as a team."

A corporal in the Palmer Township Police Department, Nelson is married and has two sons.
