SCRANTON, Pa. - Luke Velekei (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) and Xavier Arner (Schnecksville, PA/Whitehall) both captured NJCAA District Championships on Saturday afternoon at Lackawanna College, with Velekei taking the title at 184lbs and Arner at 149.

Velekei, the top-seed at 184, defeated Shawn Pawloski of Sussex County Community College, 15-5, in the championship match. 

Arner, the top-seed at 149, downed Tayler Sibblies of Sussex County, 8-0, in the championship match to earn the title. 

The Spartans squad finished strong with a round of wins to close out the placement round. Jaden Figueroa (Fountain Hill, PA/Executive Charter), Tony Morello (Easton, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond), and Cesar Acosta (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) all were able to close out the tournament with wins by pinfall and a 7th-place finish. Figueroa went 2-2 in the tournament, falling to the 3rd and 4th place finishers.

The Spartans, in their inaugural season of competition, finished in 9th place with 53 points. 

Velekei and Arner will now represent Northampton at the NJCAA National Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa March 7th and 8th.
