VINELAND, NJ - The Northampton Women's Basketball team opened the 2025-26 campaign on Thursday night with a dominant 100-31 road victory over RCSJ-Cumberland at the Dukes Athletic Center.
The Spartans jumped out to a 16-11 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, out scoring the Dukes 23-5 in the second quarter and extending their lead to 49-16 at the intermission. The Spartans held the Dukes to 15 points the rest of the way and hit the century mark with 61 points in the second half for the 100-31 victory. The last time the Spartans had hit the 100 mark was January 9, 2025 when they topped Lehigh-Carbon 100-64.

Carly Gallagher, "Everyone contributed tonight and that is a big confidence boost for us to see everyone getting involved. I could not be more proud of this group and the overall effort."
Five Spartans highlighted the stat sheet by scoring in double digits in the opening night win for Coach Gallagher. Sophomore guard
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen), a First-Team All-Region selection a year ago, led all scorers with 21 points and 6 assists. Freshman center
Nia Brown (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) debuted with her first career double-double, an 18 point effort with 15 rebounds. Forward
Joey-Madison Shaul (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) scored 17 points and grabbed 7 boards and Freshman
Abymarie Colon (Easton, PA/Wilson) contributed 16 points and 6 steals.
Al-Jhnai McClain (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) scored 15 points and was 8-10 from the foul line.
The Spartans move to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in Region 19.
The Dukes fall to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the Region.
The Spartans are back on the road this Saturday when they travel to Paterson, NJ to take on Passaic County Community College at 12pm.
