LINCROFT, NJ - The 5th seeded Northampton women's basketball team used a dominating 1st quarter to upset 4th seeded Brookdale Community College, 68-28, on Tuesday evening at Collins Arena, propelling them to the Region 19 semifinals on Thursday. 

The Spartans jumped out to a 13-0 lead and led 20-1 after the 1st quarter and never looked back in the the 40-point victory.

"Couldn't be more proud of these girls," stated Head Coach Carly Gallagher, "we came out hot and never looked back ... they stuck to the game plan and took care of business."

Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) had 19 points and 8 rebounds and Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) finished with 15 points and 6 assists.  Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) added 10 points and 11 boards for the Spartans. 

The win moves Northampton to 17-9 overall, while Brookdale finishes the season 18-9. 

The Spartans will now face top-seeded Montgomery County Community College on Thursday evening in Blue Bell, PA at 6pm.  The Mustangs advanced with a 67-53 victory over Atlantic Cape Community College.
