BLUE BELL, Pa., The Northampton women's basketball, which exceeded expectations all season, saw their outstanding 2024-25 campaign come to an end on Thursday evening with a 76-54 loss to top-seeded Montgomery County Community College at the Health Sciences Center in Blue Bell.
The Spartans fell behind 19-11 after the 1st quarter and never could recover, trailing by 18 at halftime.
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) finished with 23 points and 5 rebounds, while
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) and
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) each chipped in with 9.
"I hate to see it end," echoed Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "these girls gave me absolutely everything they had all year. There was a point in August that we wondered if we would have a team, and now 6 months later we're playing the in Region semifinals. I am so proud of each and everyone of these girls, I can't thank them enough."
Gallagher, in her first season, led the Spartans to a 17-10 overall record, the #5 seed for postseason and a playoff victory over 4th seeded Brookdale. Â
Montgomery, now 24-2, will face 3rd seeded RCSJ-Gloucester on Saturday for the North Atlantic District Championship.Â
