HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team kicked off the 2025 campaign with a 7-3 setback to Harrisburg Area Community College on Tuesday afternoon at the HACC Soccer Complex.
Trailing 4-0 in the first half,
Mohamed Hassanali (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) put the Spartans on the board converting on a pass from
Joseph Gbenda (Upper Chichester, PA/Chichester) at 30 minute mark for his first goal of the season. The Hawks tallied again with a late first half score and took a commanding 5-1 lead into halftime.
Santiago Rivas (Pereira, Columbia/Liceo Euroamericano) added a goal and an assist to pace the Spartan offense, connecting on a second half penalty kick and collecting an assist on a goal by
Elias Perez (Jersey City, NJ/Easton).
Theo Jenkins (Phillipsburg, NJ/Nazareth) had 10 saves for the Spartans.
Northampton falls to 0-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in Region 19
Harrisburg improves to 1-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the Region.Â
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they host 3rd ranked Camden County College at noon.Â
