BETHLEHEM, Pa. - In a rain-soaked affair from start to finish, the NCC men's soccer team ran their unbeaten streak to six games with a 1-1 tie vs. defending national champion Union County College on Thursday afternoon.
The Spartans took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half when
Josh Hoff scored off a scramble in front of the Union net.
Union, who captured the NJCAA Division III National Championship last season, tied the game with just under 20 minutes remaining.
The two teams battled through two 10-minute sudden death overtime periods before settling for the tie.
"This was a big day for our program," remarked Head Coach Ned Yelovich, "I am proud of how we battled the elements and kept our composure against a big-time opponent."
The Spartans, who travel to Raritan Valley Community College on October 16th, move to 6-5-2 overall and 5-5-2 in Region XIX.
