BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC women's volleyball team rallied from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Bergen County College and earn their first ever NJCAA Region XIX victory on Saturday afternoon.
Bergen jumped out to a 2-0 lead, taking game one 26-24 and game two 25-16. The Spartans then rallied to take three straight games, 25-16, 25-14, 15-11 to earn the win.
"I am so proud of the girls," responded Head Coach Missy Lynn, "it would have been very easy for them to quit after getting down 0-2, but they really showed their heart and tenacity today ... this is a great win for our program."
Emily Canfield had 8 kills,
Courtney Rice added 5 kills and 20 digs and
Sabrina Gonzalez notched 5 aces and 9 digs to lead the Spartans.
The Spartans, who improve to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in Region XIX with the victory, host Atlantic Cape Community College at 7:30pm on September 21st.
