SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball team returned to action after a six day layoff and promptly picked up where they left off, defeating Lehigh Carbon Community College, 3-0, on Tuesday evening.
Anna Domyan recorded 12 kills and 8 digs, while 2011 First Team All-Region selection
Kelly Yagerhofer had 10 kills, 7 aces and 6 digs to lead the Spartans.
"I thought we looked a little rusty after the layoff," remarked Head Coach
Adrian Yaguez, "but it was tough match to get any real flow ... I thought the girls did a good job blocking out the the environment and focusing on the match."
Pine Grove's
Barbara Dimon added 7 kills and 2 blocks while
Ashley McCauley posted 33 assists and
Alyssa Haderthauer registered 1 ace and 3 digs.
The victory improves Northampton to 14-0 overall and 12-0 in Region XIX, as they look to return to the NJCAA national rankings when they are released Wednesday afternoon.
LCCC falls to 5-17 overall and 2-14 in conference play.
The Spartans travel to Division II Harcum College on Wednesday before returning to the friendly confines of the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center on Saturday when they host a tri-match with Morris and Lackawanna.
