BERKLEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Back-up goalkeeper
Bryan Angel (Tobyhanna, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) recorded 22 saves, including a penalty kick, to lead Northampton to a 2-0 upset of Union County College on Saturday afternoon in Region XIX men's soccer playoff action.
Hamdi Selmi (Tunisia/Soussa - Tunisia ) scored off a free kick from
Joey Jacona (East Stroudsburg, PA /East Stroudsburg South ) at the 36 minute mark of the first half and
Sam Gaye (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) added an insurance goal in the second half to propel the Spartans to the victory. "All I can say is that these guys played their hearts out today," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "not alot has gone right for us this week, but somehow today it all came together and we pulled out a huge victory."
McCarthy praised the play of defenders

Northampton, now 11-4-0, will travel on October 28th to face 2nd seeded Bergen Community College with the time still be determined.
The playoff victory is the first for Northampton since 2010 and the victory over Union is the first over a GSAC opponent since 2011.
