BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton volleyball team remained undefeated in Region XIX, moving to 11-0, with a 3-1 victory over Montgomery County Community College on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
In a battle of the top two teams in Region XIX, the Spartans dominated the opening set 25-10, dropped set two 23-25, and then rebounded to win the third set 25-16 and the final set 25-15, handing the Mustangs just their second defeat of the season.
Katrina Shelly (Mountville, PA /Hempfield ) led the Spartans with 15 kills and 17 digs,
Bridget Lozier (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) had 7 kills and 8 blocks and
Taylor Frisoli (Bath, PA /Notre Dame - Green Pond ) added 8 kills to lead the Spartans. Â
Alysce Molchan (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) recorded 35 assists and 10 digs and
Kalli Walling (Saylorsburg, PA /Pleasant Valley) broke the single-season digs record, notching 27 to give her 285 for the season, breaking the record of 281 set in 2013 by Anna Domyan.
The Spartans, now 19-1 overall, prepare to travel to Syracuse, NY this weekend to compete in Cara Byrant Memorial Tournament at Onondaga Community College.Â
Montgomery falls to 16-2 overall, with both losses at the hands of the Spartans, including a 3-0 defeat on September 15th in Blue Bell.Â
