TOMS RIVER, NJ - Despite a longer than anticipated trip to Toms River from Bethlehem due to traffic, the Northampton women's volleyball team didn't allow it to affect their play, downing host Ocean County College 25-11, 25-13, 25-17, to move to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Region XIX.
"It was definitely the longest trip to Ocean that I have taken in my 8 years in the Region," commented Spartan Head Coach
Adrian Yaguez, "we stayed in constant contact with the Ocean coaching staff and administration during the trip and they were fantastic about the whole thing."
Katrina Shelly (Mountville, PA /Hempfield ) recorded 11 kills,
Bridget Lozier (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) had 9 kills and 6 digs and
Taylor Frisoli (Bath, PA /Notre Dame - Green Pond ) added 5 kills to pace the Spartan attack.
Alysce Molchan (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) notched 31 assists and
Kalli Walling (Saylorsburg, PA /Pleasant Valley) had 21 digs for Northampton, which has not lost a Region XIX regular season match since October 17, 2011 ... a streak that stretches 61 consecutive matches.
The Spartans have a quick turnaround as they hit the road Friday night on their way to Butler, PA to compete in the Butler County Community College Invitational on Saturday.
