BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Despite over 30 days off and a slow start to the game, the Northampton Men's Basketball team responded in the second half, outscoring Lehigh Carbon 50 to 21, to earn a 76-53 victory on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Trailing 32-26 at halftime, the Spartans exploded in the second half, shooting 49% from the field (19/39) while holding the Cougars to just 25% (7/28).
Jay Davis (Northwest, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led three Spartans in double-figures with 19, while
Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) added 11 and
Tyrese Stewart (Allentown, Pa. /William Allen ) 10.
Northampton dominated the glass, outrebounding LCCC 51-31 behind 15 boards from Hinton-Gray and 13 for Stewart.
The win moves Northampton to 12-2 overall, 8-1 in Region XIX and 7-1 in the EPAC.
LCCC falls to 5-14 overall, 4-9 in Region XIX and 3-8 in conference play.
Northampton is now 6-0 all-time in the Spartan Center vs. Lehigh Carbon since both programs joined the NJCAA.
The Spartans return to the hardwood on Saturday when they travel to Toms River, NJ to face the Ocean County College Vikings at 2pm.
