SYRACUSE, NY - The Northampton women's volleyball team earned the #1 seed in the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament after pool play, but ran into a "hornets nest" vs.4th seeded Broome Community College, falling to the Hornets 2-0 in the tournament semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. 

The Spartans finished 3-2 overall at the tournament, with freshman Abby Orth (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) earning All Tournament honors. 

After a 1-1 start on Friday night, the Spartans opened play on Saturday vs. Cayuga Community College and promptly disposed of the Spartans 25-9, 25-11.  Sarah DiGrazia (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had 4 kills, Andrea Ceraolo (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 3 kills and Abby Orth (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) recorded 6 aces and 7 digs to lead Northampton. 

The Spartans then defeated Finger Lakes Community College, 25-21, 25-19 to finish pool play 3-1.  Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 8 kills and 9 digs and Samantha Hatfield (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) added 8 kills for Northampton. 

#1 Northampton drew 4th seeded Broome Community College in the single elimination playoff and were eliminated in the semi-finals 11-25, 21-25.  Madelyn Deloglos (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) had 7 kills and Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) added 17 digs.

"Overall good weekend of competition," stated veteran mentor Adrian Yaguez, "Broome was strange match-up for us ... for some reason we just couldn't figure them out, they had our number on Friday night and then again Saturday, but overall we played some good volleyball and continue to work toward our goal of a Region XIX Championship."

The Spartans, now 11-5 overall, travel to Newtown, PA on Tuesday night to face Bucks County Community College in their final Region XIX Division III regular season match of the season.
