BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Brookdale Community College, the nation's top-ranked team, looked the part on Saturday, as they used a smothering defense and a balanced offense to down the Northampton men's basketball team, 88-67, at the Arthur L. Scott Center. 

The Jersey Blues took a 46-26 lead into intermission and increased that to 39 with 7:04 remaining in the game, before the Spartans made a late run.

"They are very good," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "defensively, they are the best team we have played this year and offensively they have so many weapons ... we did a pretty good on Jamik Moore (8 points), but then 3 or 4 other guys step up."

Jay Davis (Northwest, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led Northampton with 28 points, while Arnel Lewis finished with 14 and Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, Pa. /Harrisburg) 13. 

Northampton outrebounded Brookdale, 51-36, as Isiah Hinton-Gray (Allentown, Pa./William Allen ) pulled down 14 boards and four other Spartans had 7 each. 

The loss drops Northampton to 21-6 overall and 17-4 in the Region. 

Brookdale finishes the regular season undefeated at 28-0 overall and 22-0 in the Region. 

Northampton closes out their regular season on Tuesday when they host Middlesex (14-13) at 7pm.
