GARDEN CITY, NY - The Northampton women's volleyball team dropped both matches of a tri-match at Nassau Community College on Saturday, falling to Northern Virginia Community College 3-0 and the hosts, 3-1.
Match One - vs. Northern Virginia Community College (Lost 3-0)
In the first match of the day,
Madelyn Deloglos (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) recorded 7 kills and 2 blocks and
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 3 kills, 3 aces and 7 digs, but Northern Virginia was able to down the Spartans, 22-25, 22-25, 15-25, to earn the three set sweep.
Abby Orth (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had 9 digs and
Savanna Jordan (Bath, PA /Bethlehem Catholic) added 11 assists and 2 digs for Northampton.
Match Two - vs. Nassau Community College (Lost 3-1)
Madelyn Deloglos (Northampton, PA/Northampton ) notched 10 kills in the second match of the day, but the Lions proved too much for the Spartans, winning the match by the scores of 21-25, 25-21, 16-25, 21-25.
Bridget Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond ) had 5 kills and 14 digs,
Savanna Jordan (Bath, PA /Bethlehem Catholic) recorded 28 assists and 10 digs,
Abby Orth (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had 28 digs and
Caisey Kroschwitz (Bath, PA /Bethlehem Catholic) 19 digs for Northampton.
"It really depends on how you want to approach it," replied Head Coach
Adrian Yaguez when asked about the 0-2 performance, "obviously no one wants to lose, but I think these two matches will really help us later in the season ... we got to experience some really good competition in a road environment today and that will go a long way to helping us improve."
The Spartans, now 2-2 overall, travel to NJCAA Division II member Harcum College on Tuesday to face the Bears.
