Davis Breaks School Record As Spartans Win 11th Straight

BETHLEHEM, PA - Sophomore Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) scored 36 points, giving him 1082 for his career, as the Spartans defeated the Community College of Philadelphia 107-74 on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center. Davis eclipsed the previous mark of 1080 held by Josh Vargas (2009-2011).

Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) recorded a double-double with 23 points and 23 rebounds as the Spartans out-rebounded the Colonials 69-35. The 23 rebounds are tied for the second most in a game in Northampton history.

Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) added 17 points and 8 assists, D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic) chipped in 9 points and 8 assists, and Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) hauled down 14 rebounds.

"Obviously tonight was a big accomplishment for Jay, but it was also a big win for the team as well," remarked head coach Brennan McCarthy, "Jay deserves this record but I know the win means just as much to him."

Northampton, which received votes in this week's national poll, improves to 15-5 overall, 14-3 in Region XIX and 12-2 in the EPAC.

Philadelphia falls to 9-9 overall, 9-8 in Region XIX and 6-5 in conference play.

The Spartans return to the hardwood on Saturday as they travel to Schnecksville, PA to face the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon at 3:00pm.
