BETHLEHEM, PA - Sophomore
Jay Davis (Northwest, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) scored 36 points, giving him 1082 for his career, as the Spartans defeated the Community College of Philadelphia 107-74 on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center. Davis eclipsed the previous mark of 1080 held by Josh Vargas (2009-2011).
Elijah Barrett (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) recorded a double-double with 23 points and 23 rebounds as the Spartans out-rebounded the Colonials 69-35. The 23 rebounds are tied for the second most in a game in Northampton history.
Arnel Lewis (Easton, PA/Easton) added 17 points and 8 assists,
D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic) chipped in 9 points and 8 assists, and
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) hauled down 14 rebounds.
"Obviously tonight was a big accomplishment for Jay, but it was also a big win for the team as well," remarked head coach
Brennan McCarthy, "Jay deserves this record but I know the win means just as much to him."
Northampton, which received votes in this week's national poll, improves to 15-5 overall, 14-3 in Region XIX and 12-2 in the EPAC.
Philadelphia falls to 9-9 overall, 9-8 in Region XIX and 6-5 in conference play.
The Spartans return to the hardwood on Saturday as they travel to Schnecksville, PA to face the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon at 3:00pm.
