BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team improved to 5-0 overall with a dominating 109-72 victory over Delaware County Community College on Thursday evening at the Spartan Center.
The Spartans shot a blistering 63% from the field, while holding DCCC to just 35%, en route to the 37-point victory. "We did a good job tonight pushing them out of their comfort zone," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "we were able to put pressure on the ball and keep their shooters off balance."
Northampton had four players in double figures, led by
Stephon Sheard (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) with 20,
Nazir Gossette (Philadelphia, PA/Math, Civics & Sciences Charter) 19, and
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn) and
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) each with 16.
James added 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Sheard had 8 boards and 5 dimes for the Spartans.
The Spartans improve to 5-0 overall, 3-0 in Region XIX and 3-0 in the EPAC.
Delaware falls to 1-3 overall, 1-2 in Region and 1-2 in conference.
Northampton returns to action on Saturday at Passaic County Community College at 2pm.
