BLUE BELL, Pa. - The 6th ranked Northampton men's basketball team picked up their 10th victory of the season with an 86-70 road victory over Montgomery County Community College on Thursday evening.
The Spartans built a 36-23 lead in a defense-filled first half and then outscored the Mustangs 50-47 in the second half to earn the 16 point victory.
"Good road win in a tough environment," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I thought the guys did a good job focusing on the task at hand tonight and we were able to pick up a solid win over a quality opponent."
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) led the Spartans with 18 points, while
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn) added 17 and
Nazir Gossette (Philadelphia, PA/Math, Civics & Sciences Charter) finished with 15.
The win moves the Spartans to 10-1 overall, 8-1 in Region XIX and 6-1 in the EPAC.
Montgomery falls to 9-2 overall, 8-2 in Region XIX and 5-2 in conference play.
Northampton returns to the hardwood on Tuesday December 10th when they host Thaddeus Stevens College at 7pm.
