Spartans Top Brookdale, Improve to 20-2 Overall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team won their 4th game in 6 days, downing Brookdale Community College, 99-75, on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center, to improve to 20-2 on the season.

Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn) finished with 23 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 6 of 7 from distance, while Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) added a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds. 

"I thought we played a really complete game today," stated Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we were able to win the battle of the backboards and get our transition game going which really opened things up for us."

Ben Sandberg (Willow Street, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) added 14 points and Marquise McClean (York, PA/William Penn ) chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds for Northampton.

The win moves the 11th ranked Spartans to 20-2 overall and 16-2 in Region XIX. 

Brookdale falls to 12-9 overall and 11-8 in Region play. 

The Spartans are back in action Tuesday when they travel to the Community College of Philadelphia for a Game of the Week matchup with the Lions (19-2) at 7pm.  CCP won the first matchup between the two nationally-ranked teams, 80-69, on December 3rd in Bethlehem.
