BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The #1 seeded Northampton men's basketball team advanced to the Region XIX Final Four with an 82-69 victory over Passaic County Community College on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Trailing 36-23 halfway through the first half, the Spartans then outscored the Panthers 59-33 over the remainder of the contest to earn the 13 point victory.
"We hit a little speed bump in the first half," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "but the guys really responded and the crowd was fantastic and really got into the game."
Tony James (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg ) led the Spartans with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Coca-Cola Player the Game
D'Andre Davis (York, PA/York Catholic ) added 15 points and 4 rebounds.
The Spartans got 11 points and 9 rebounds from
Marquise McClean (York, PA/William Penn ) and
Michael Jackson (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn) added 13 points and 2 assists, as Northampton finished 28 of 61 from the floor (46%).
The win moves Northampton (25-3 overall) into the Region XIX Final Four this Saturday vs. #4 Philadelphia, who advanced with an 80-74 win over #5 Camden.
The two EPAC foes split their season series, with each winning on the others home court.
Game time for Saturday is 5pm, with ticket prices set at $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Passaic finishes the year at 17-14.
