Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team improved to 4-0-0 at home after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Raritan Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.
Matthew Bayda (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) got the Spartans on the board 19 minutes into the contest, placing a perfect head ball in the back of the net, off a free kick from
Hatungimana Salem (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ), giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
The scored remained 1-0 Northampton through halftime, before the Lions were able to tie the contest on a penalty kick with 15 minutes remaining.
After a foul outside the box at the 82 minute mark, Salem was able to put home a free kick to give Northampton a 2-1 lead, which they were able to hold and secure the victory.

Mario Barrantes, "this a great confidence boost, defeating a solid squad like RVCC. I thought our effort and fight were outstanding for 90 minutes."
Drake Brackett (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) made 2 saves in in earning the victory in goal.
The win moves Northampton to 4-3-0 overall and 3-3-0 in Region 19.
RVCC falls to 2-4-0 overall with the loss.
The Spartans travel to the Electric City on Tuesday to face Division II Lackawanna College at 3pm.
