Box Score NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match-up on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3, to former Region 19 foe Bucks County Community College.

The Spartans, who entered the game on a two-game winning streak, jumped out early, scoring just 3 minutes into the game as
Derek Filipkowski (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) found the back of the net off an assist from
Hatungimana Salem (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ).
Bucks evened the score at 1-1, at the 27 minute mark, with a floater over an outstretched
Wingate Hopkins (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL/Ponte Vedra (FL)).
The score remained tied through halftime and the first 22 minutes of the second stanza before Bucks was able to take a 2-1 lead.
Northampton answered right back at the 68 minute mark as
Gabe Lawler (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) fed
Hatungimana Salem (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ), who then beat two defenders to tie the contest at 2-2.
Bucks then began to take advantage of their size, getting two goals to take a 4-2 lead.
Gabe Lawler (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) scored to cut the margin to 4-3 off an assist from Filipkowski with 5 minutes remaining in the contest.
The Spartans had a couple opportunities to tie the contest in the last 5 minutes but couldn't finish. "We kept pushing at the end, but just couldn't get the equalizer," remarked Head Coach
Mario Barrantes, "unfortunately we got a little sloppy defensively midway through the second half and it cost us."
The loss drops Northampton to 4-4-0 overall.
The Spartans will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday when they travel to Montgomery County Community College to face the Mustangs in a Region 19 matchup scheduled for 3:30pm.
