11/16/2021 9:13:00 PM

Box Score SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - A dominating second half, which saw the Spartans outscore their opponents 50-18, led 10th ranked Northampton to a 94-49 victory over Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday evening at the Cougar Den.

Mel Copeland (Allentown, PA/William Allen) and Michael Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) each scored 18 points, while Zykir Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin Charter ) and Amyr Fox (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East ) both added 12 as the Spartans knocked down 23 more field goals than the Cougars (37-14). Copeland finished 6 of 9 from the field, including a 4 for 6 performance from behind the 3-point line.

"I thought our defense really stepped up in the second half," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "we only allowed 4 field goals over the final 20 minutes and did a good job limiting any second chance opportunities."

Marable led the Spartans on the glass with 10 rebounds, while Amyr Fox (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East ) and Kymir Roper (Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby,) each pulled down 9 boards.

The win, Northampton's 8th consecutive victory over the Cougars, moves the Spartans to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 19.

Lehigh Carbon falls to 0-4 overall.

Northampton returns to action on Thursday in Newtown, PA in a non-conference matchup at Bucks County Community College.
