BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 12th ranked Northampton men's basketball team placed five players in double figures as they rolled past Sussex County Community College, 88-60, on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
Mel Copeland (Allentown, PA/William Allen) led the Spartans with 20 points, followed by
Michael Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) and
Khamari White (Philadelphia, PA/Kensington) each with 12 and
Union Burns (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mt. West ) and
Zykir Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin Charter ) with 10.
The Spartan defense forced the Skylanders into 21 turnovers and held a dominating 35-21 advantage on the boards.
Offensively, Northampton finished 36/63 (57%) from the floor and collected 20 assists on the 36 field goals.
"Our defense really allowed us to get out in transition and get some easy looks," commented Head Coach

Michael Mish (Leesport, PA/Schuylkill Valley) and
Union Burns (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mt. West ) gave us some good energy off the bench tonight, overall I was really pleased with the contributions we got throughout the lineup."
White finished with 10 rebounds, while Marable snatched 6 rebounds and handed out 5 assists.
The win moves Northampton to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in Region 19.
Sussex falls to 3-3 overall and 3-3 in Region 19.
The Spartans return to the hardwood on Saturday when they host Delaware County Community College at 1pm.
