LA PLUME, Pa. - In a back and forth contest, Keystone College secured a 5-4 victory with a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th inning on Tuesday afternoon vs. the Spartans.
Keystone got on the board in the bottom of the 1st, manufacturing a run with a single and 3 walks.
The Spartans scored 2 runs in the top of the 5th as
Colin Gehringer (Exeter, PA/Exeter) singled, advanced to third on a double from
Jordan Siket (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and scored on a single from
Joey Galantini (Allentown, PA/Salisbury).
Keystone tied the contest at 2-2 with a run in the bottom of the 5th and took a 3-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the 6th.
Northampton plated 2 runs in the 7th on a
Collin Jensen (Garnet Valley, PA/Archmere Academy (DE)) double to right field, scoring Siket and
Jordan King (York, PA/Central York), giving the Spartans a 4-3 lead.
The Giants tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the 7th.
The Spartans were scoreless in the 8th and 9th, setting the stage for the Giants.
Derrick Cancel singled for Keystone, advanced on a balk and then scored the winning run when a hard hit ball from Nick Carlini was misplayed, giving the Giants a 5-4 victory.
Patrick Flynn (Easton, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) took the loss in relief for Northampton, working 3.1 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, striking out 4. Starter
