BRANCHBURG, NJ - The Northampton men's soccer team saw the 2022 season come to an end on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Raritan Valley Community College in the Region 19 playoffs.
The 5th seeded Spartans and 4th seeded Lions battled back and forth for 90 minutes, but a first half goal from Omar Seoudy at the 33:14 mark, assisted by Edwin Navarro, was all that RVCC would need to advance to the Region 19 championship game.
"We started a little slow and RV was definitely the aggressor in the first half," commented Head Coach
Mario Barrantes, "but in the second half I thought we were the more dominant team, but we could not get the equalizer. I'm really proud of this group, we achieved a number of our goals this year, unfortunately we just fell a little short today."
Drake Brackett (West Easton, PA/Wilson) recorded 8 saves in goal for the Spartans, who finish the season 10-3-2 overall.
Raritan Valley, which improves to 10-3-1 overall, will travel to top-seeded Bergen Community College on October 29th for the Region 19 championship game.
