BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 2nd seeded Northampton women's volleyball team advanced to the Region 19 / North Atlantic District B Championship with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-5, 25-19) victory over 7th seeded Union County College on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center.
Jordan Appleton (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) recorded 14 kills and 12 digs and
Emerald Walker (Mansfield, PA/North Penn Mansfield ) added 8 kills for the Spartans.
"Tonight marked another step toward our goal of capturing a Region championship," remarked Head Coach
Rachael Caywood, "we now have to turn our focus to RVCC and get prepared for a tough match on Saturday. Hopefully our fans can come out and support us as we try to earn a bid to the NJCAA National Tournament."
Alexandra Bosco (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) notched 24 assists and had 5 kills, while
Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) registered 14 digs, 6 service aces and 2 assists.
The victory moves Northampton to 17-1 overall, while Union finishes the year at 10-10
The Spartans will now host 3rd seeded Raritan Valley Community College (28-4) on Saturday at noon in the Region 19 / North Atlantic B District championship match.
RVCC advanced by sweeping 6th seeded Atlantic Cape Community College.
