ROCHESTER, MN - The #9 Northampton women's volleyball team dropped their final match at the NJCAA national tournament, falling to #7 Sandhills Community College (NC) 3-1, to finish in 10th place.
The Spartans took the first set 25-16, but the Flyers stormed back to take the next three; 25-22, 25-16, 25-23.
Jordan Appleton (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) and
Ayana Bomani (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) each had 12 kills, while
Alexandra Bosco (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) recorded 26 assists and 15 digs and
Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) added a team-high 18 digs.
The Spartans finish 1-2 at the national tournament to bring their all-time mark to 6-12 in national play.
The 10th place finish is their best since 2017, when they finished 6th.
Northampton was making their 6th appearance at the national tournament, the 3rd most appearances of the 12 schools competing.
The Spartans finish the season at 19-3 overall, having captured the EPAC Championship, Region 19 Championship and North Atlantic District B title.
Sandhills (23-15) finishes the tournament with a 2-1 record and a 9th place finish.
