Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team opened up their Region 19 schedule with a 75-67 victory over Thaddeus Stevens College on Saturday afternoon at TSCT Arena.
In a back-and-forth affair, Thaddeus Stevens led 38-35 af the the half, but Northampton was able gain the lead in the second half and hold off the Bulldogs down the stretch.
"Stevens is always a tough place to play," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "they are well-coached and play so hard, this is not an easy place to pick a road win."
Mike Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna) led Northampton with 22 points, including a 9 for 10 effort from the charity stripe, and 11 rebounds.
Xavier Goodman (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown) added a season-high 18 points, while
Tyrese Fuller (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Northampton moves to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in Region 19 and 1-0 in the EPAC.
Stevens falls to 1-1 overall, 1-1 in Region 19 and 0-1 in conference play. .
The Spartans return to the hardwood on Thursday November 15th when they host Region 19 foe Lehigh Carbon Community College at 7pm.
