12/7/2022 3:19:00 PM

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton Director of Athletics Troy Tucker has announced that Mr. Angelo Amato has been named the Head Coach of the Northampton Women's Soccer team.  A long-time fixture on the Lehigh Valley soccer scene, Amato will be tasked with reviving the Spartan program, which has been dormant since the end of the 2019 season.

"We are looking forward to Coach Amato reviving our women's soccer program," stated Tucker, "coming off of a 10-4-0 season and a conference championship in 2019, we hit a roadblock in Fall 2020 and then suffered through the affects of COVID in 2021 and 2022.  Coach has hit the ground running and is looking to put a quality product on the pitch in the Fall of 2024."

Amato has trained and developed hundreds of soccer players in the Lehigh Valley and for many players, he was their first coach.  Amato is a dedicated coach, who simultaneously oversaw several teams of various ages during the spring, fall and winter indoor seasons,  Amato was also the Founder and Director of the E.A.T. Rage Soccer Club located in East Allen Township, which ran from 2010 to 2021.

Amato served as the Head Coach of Bethlehem Catholic High School from 2019-2021 where he was successful at bringing talented players together to create a winning culture fueled by year-round training. Several Lady Hawks went on to play soccer at colleges and universities and both Assistant Coaches moved on to become Head Coaches of area High Schools.

Coach Amato's entire focus is now dedicated to just this team and it's individual players growth and development. He is an energetic, forward-thinking motivator and is excited and optimistic about rebuilding the Spartan Women's Soccer team roster with determined and talented student-athletes that are willing to put in the work required to become champions.
