Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. - The 12th ranked Northampton men's basketball team overcame a slow start and turned up the heat in the second half, outscoring Thaddeus Stevens College 52-30 over the final 20 minutes to earn a 87-58 victory on Saturday afternoon at the MAC.
Leading 35-28 at the intermission, the Spartans found their rhythm in the second half to earn their 12th consecutive victory. "We were definitely a little slow out of the gate," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "but once we found our stride, we were able to stretch our lead a little and everyone seemed to settle in. It was nice to get everyone some time today and all 12 guys scored."
The Spartans, who did not make 3-point shot (0-10), shot from 48% from the field, knocking down 36 of 75 shot attempts.
Zykir Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin Charter ) led the Spartans with 21 points on 8 of 13 from the field,
Michael Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) added 16 points and
Gary Francis (Morrisville, PA/Pennsbury) had 14.
Williams grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds, while Marable snatched 8
Amyr Fox (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East ) dished out a game-high 9 assists.
The win moves Northampton to 17-2 overall, 7-1 in Region 19 and 6-1 in the EPAC.
Stevens falls to 7-8 overall, 3-7 in Region 19 and 2-6 in conference play.
The Spartans travel to Blue Bell, PA on Tuesday to face 7th ranked Montgomery County Community College at 7pm.
