Box Score BLUE BELL, Pa. - The 9th ranked Northampton men's basketball team dropped a NJCAA Top-Ten showdown on Tuesday evening, falling to 6th ranked Montgomery County Community College, 58-50, at the Health Sciences Center.
The Spartans, who led 31-27 at the half, struggled from the field all night, finishing just 17 of 60 (28%) overall and 4 of 17 from distance (23%).
Mel Copeland (Allentown, PA/William Allen) was the only Spartan in double figures, tallying 16 points, including 4 3-pointers in the first half.
Michael Marable (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) and
Kymir Roper (Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby,) each added 8 points.
Roper led Northampton on the boards with 7, followed by Marable,
Zykir Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Boys Latin Charter ) and
Amyr Fox (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East ) each with 6.
The loss drops Northampton to 17-3 overall, 7-2 in Region 19 and 6-2 in the EPAC
Montgomery improves to 22-2 overall, 11-1 in Region 19 and 7-1 in conference play.
The Spartans return to the hardwood on Thursday when they host RCSJ-Gloucester in a Region 19 matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm following the women's game.
