BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team rode the right arm of
Cole McGourty (Asbury, NJ/Voorhees (NJ)) and the bat of
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) to topple 2nd ranked RCSJ-Cumberland, 13 to 3, on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Park.
The Spartans scored at least one run in 7 of the 8 innings they batted, pounding out 15 hits in the run-rule shortened victory.
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) finished 4 for 4 with a double and 4 RBI,
Isaiah Lockette (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) was 3 for 5 and
Michael Wambold (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) was 2 for 4 with 2 walks.
Cole McGourty (Asbury, NJ/Voorhees (NJ)) earned the win, improving to 3-0, with a complete game 8-hitter, allowing 3 runs, striking out 6 and walking 2.
Mikal Goods took the loss for RCSJ-Cumberland, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits over 4 innings.
Northampton, which has now won 6 straight, improves to 15-3 overall and 1-0 in Region 19.
Cumberland falls to 22-5 overall and 9-2 in Region 19.
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday when they host Division II Sussex County Community College at 3:30pm.
