BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball team opened the 2022 campaign with a hard-fought 3-1 loss to 7th ranked Harrisburg Area Community College on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The undefeated Hawks took the first set 25-16, but the Spartans battled back to take the second set 25-22, before HACC rallied to take the third set 25-20 and then closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the 4th set.
"We played well as an unit for our first time out," remarked 2nd year coach
Rachael Caywood, "we still have a number of areas to work on, but overall I was pleased with our development from last season. We are excited to see where this season will take us."
Meghan Speshok (Easton, PA/Easton) recorded 25 assists, 2 service aces and 12 digs,
Jordan Appleton (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) notched 13 kills, 18 digs and 2 blocks and newcomer
Ayana Bomani (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) registered 11 kills, 15 digs and 3 blocks.
The Spartans, 0-1 overall, will return to action on Saturday when they host Lehigh Carbon Community College at noon.
